Summer and the element of EARTH.

Ceremonial and Ritual Guidance for the season.

Each moment is distinct, precious, fleeting... Each day is one to give thanks, make order in our lives, create beauty, and find our way back to peace and harmony. We offer these suggestions for daily rituals and deeper ceremonies as ways to strengthen our connection to the Earth.

Daily Rituals.

These are some simple ways to connect with the Earth and integrate them into your daily life. Keeping a journal to capture your insights is a great tool as well.

Every day when you wake up, greet the Earth. Get on your knees or walk with bare feet, touch your hands to the raw Earth or roots of a tree, and breathe. Focus on observing, meditating, and connecting to the collective consciousness that is going through the networks of the Earth. Our ability to identify most networks has been shut down in the human species- this is why we are not aware that our actions are causing the destruction of our world.

Learn to identify and connect with the networks in nature, where one part of nature gives life to another, how that exchange happens and the gift and given and received. For example, how the light and energy of the sun is received by the earth. We know the sun’s light and heat creates the seasons depending on how much light is shining on the earth. Also, learning about the amazing process of photosynthesis where the plants create food from the sunlight. Another network is the process of water- how does it give life to the plants and animals? Our fully conscious participation in understanding the gifts of the networks can create an incredible farmer, scientist, or medicine person as examples.

Identify how many networks your body is interacting with on a daily basis. Is the network of our food healthy to give us good nourishment and health? To reawaken and understand our perception of these networks is to make ourselves available to those elements. Walk the mountains, sit with a tree, meditate and contemplate, and try to understand what you are seeing in this world. We are getting closer to consciously being part of the Web of Life so we can be part of its co-creation.

Ask yourself: What is my contribution to the Web of Life?

Plant something in the earth and meditate on the journey that the seed takes through its life cycle: it is planted in darkness and once it receives life-giving water, in its right timing it bursts out of its current form, and starts to reach for the sun and light. Then it breaks through the soil into the air as a tender sprout, growing and developing, to flower and share its essence, attracting the pollinators. After reaching its full blossom the flower withers, and the fruit begins to grow, holding the seeds which will drop and offer the potential of life to continue again. Reflect on the sacred geometry that is held within the seeds where the one can become the 144,000. Have you ever held a tiny tobacco seed and marveled at the entire genetic code that is held in such a tiny package?

Ask yourself: What do you want to grow in your life?

Collect five handfuls of different kinds of earth (different colors, from different places like the forest versus the river bank, etc.) and put them in bowls on your altar. Feel them, smell them, taste them. What makes them different? Notice what is in them and study them- what will grow in them, what can you do with them?

Offer actions of love to help clean up the Earth. Through these actions we are offering an intentional apology to clean up the mess we have made as humanity, and as a gift back to the generations that fought for the Earth. Invite your neighbors to help clean up the spaces where you live. Gather the children and teach them about the relationship to the Earth and why we need to keep it clean. Plant flowers to provide food for the pollinators, donate to causes that protect and renew the Earth. Find your unique way to help clean up our Earth.

Tie yourself to the Tree of Life.

This is a powerful experience that requires several hours of time to go deep in your connection with the earth.

Give yourselves several hours by yourself for this ritual. You will need to choose a tree that you will connect with, and find a natural cord or rope that is long enough to tie around yourself and the tree (a woven sash or belt is ideal).

Greet the tree and make an offering to it (you can use a pinch of cornmeal or tobacco, smudge, or a strand of your hair), requesting permission to connect with its essence. Find your place to sit, then tie the cord around your waist and tie the other end around the tree, and sit comfortably on the ground. Feel yourself weaving the energetic strands of connection with the tree, and as you sit, move forward and backwards, feeling the tightening and loosening of the cord as if you are weaving. Allow the dance of giving thanks to the Tree to flow through you. Learn to be sensitive to acknowledge the energy field of the tree and you will enter its magnetic bubble. Now you are inside the house of the tree, this is why we ask permission to enter and request why you are there.

Breathe in and feel the cord tighten, breathe out and let it relax. When you breathe in, the tree is exhaling. Our breath out is the breath in for the tree. This is a way of making love. Do this for several hours in meditation and calmness. Listen for the tree’s song, for the invisible sounds. You are reconnecting with the Tree of Life. Awaken the connection that is hidden from most humans now. You may be gifted by entering a collective consciousness.

When you are complete, thank the tree and untie yourself. Journal about your experience and capture any messages you received or insights that came.
