Earth Wisdom & Waqxaqui (8) B’atz Gathering
June 19th - 24th, 2026

Deer Mountain Sanctuary

This year, two sacred cycles align.

Our annual Earth Wisdom Gathering, held on the days surrounding the summer solstice when the sun reaches its highest point and the Earth is filled with light, coincides with Waqxaqui (8) B’atz — the sacred day that serves as the ceremonial heartbeat of Earth Peoples United, returning every 260 days.

For our community, 8 B’atz is a time of renewal, gratitude, and remembering our spiritual path. It is when we gather around the Mayan Fire to give thanks for the cycle that has passed and to begin the next one with clarity and intention.

When these two sacred cycles align — the solar cycle of the Earth and the sacred calendar of the Maya — it becomes a powerful moment to come together in ceremony, prayer, and community.

Join us for a sacred, land-based gathering at Deer Mountain Sanctuary, where we will spend several days living in rhythm with the land — tending the sacred fire, sharing teachings, and strengthening the bonds that hold our community together.

Together we will:

  • Honor the turning of the solar cycle at Summer Solstice

  • Celebrate the renewal of the sacred calendar cycle of Waqxaqui (8) B’atz with a Mayan Fire Ceremony

  • Share earth-based teachings, storytelling, and cultural wisdom

  • Participate in land stewardship and tending projects

  • Deepen our connection with one another, Spirit, and the natural world

We will also gather in council beneath the Grandmother Oak, where elders from many traditions have shared wisdom over the years. In this sacred space of listening and reflection, we will consider the state of our planet and humanity, and explore how each of us can help nurture a more balanced and life-supporting future.

These gatherings are a return to village life, where people come together around the fire to remember our shared responsibility to care for the Earth and one another. Whether you have walked with this community for many years or are feeling called to experience it for the first time, this is a powerful moment to step into the circle.

Camping is included, with optional glamping upgrades available.
Participants may join for the full five-day immersion or for the weekend portion of the gathering.

Come tend the fire, renew your spirit, and celebrate the turning of the cycle with us!
